Kunštát Chapel
The Kunštát Chapel is located on the peaks of the Orlické Mountains. At an altitude of 1,035 m above sea level, it is the highest-situated chapel. It was built in 1869 on the site of an older chapel from 1670.
It is dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary and is said to have served the woodcutters who were invited from Tyrol to the Orlické Mountains for work. After the expulsion of the German population following World War II, the chapel was damaged. It was not renovated until 1967. Today, the chapel is not only a spiritual place but also a pleasant destination for tourists and cross-country skiers. In winter, you can’t reach it any way other than along a snowy trail. With its mountain character and simplicity, it blends beautifully into the surrounding nature and invites a quiet pause in the middle of a ridge hike.
The nearest parking is by Masaryk’s Chalet on Šerlich (approx. 1.5 km on foot).
